I first heard this song on the La Bamba soundtrack during my high school years, but the original version predates me by more than a decade. The lyrics remain timeless and most teens can relate in some way to the message of the song.
About the song choice: I was debating between the original version by Eddie Cochran and this version by Alan Jackson. Mom said I should got with the Alan Jackson version. Truth be told, I don’t know that you can do a bad version of this song.
