October 2 – Abracadabra

This was one of those mornings where despite the pounding beat of the music, it didn’t seem to fully wake up Zoe. It wasn’t until later that night that Zoe asked me, “Did you really play a Lady Gaga song?”

About the song choice: This was one of those rabbit holes that you find yourself going down thanks to the Internet. See, Taylor Swift has a new album coming out tomorrow. One of the songs on the new album is called Father Figure, and it has some ties to the original Father Figure song by George Michael. That got me thinking that maybe I could find other pairs of songs that share the same name. Somehow, I knew that there was an Abracadabra song by the Steve Miller Band and by Lady Gaga. I opted for the Lady Gaga take, but I still owe Zoe a listen to the SMB version.
