Today is Veterans’ Day here in America. Zoe’s Grandfather Frank served in the Navy; her Grandfather John served in the National Guard; and her Uncle Ed served in the Army. We are thankful for their service, and that they all came home safely.
About the song choice: Sadly, the reception some veterans received when they returned home was not celebrations and parades. This song by Bruce Springsteen is often misconstrued as a positive anthem, but it’s a harsh look at the world that many Vietnam veterans were facing in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
