Friday, my best friend, you are back in my life (for 24 hours). And if it’s Friday, it’s time to hear some Beach Boys music, this week from the 1980s. This week, you are going to get two songs played for the price of one. Zoe is so lucky to have a loving, caring, thoughtful father like me.
About the song choice: This is a bit of a cheat, which is why I am including it as a bonus track. The Beach Boys recorded this song in the late 1970s for the M.I.U. album, which was immediately forgotten about for good reason. In 1981, to help fulfill an album commitment to CBS, the band released a Greatest Hits of the 1970s album called Ten Years of Harmony. Come Go With Me was released as a single from the greatest hits album and had some success on the charts that year. It’s a great showcase of Al Jardine, and he continues to feature the song in concerts.
